Me
I'M SOMA ALIAKBARI, USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER, CURRENTLY DESIGNING FOR CHAT, MESSAGING AND VOICE SOLUTIONS.
Beginning
My creative journey started with my strong passion for architecture. I went to design school fully motivated to become an architect. I learned about color theory, form and function, space planning, conceptual and critical thinking, a variety of fabrication/prototyping techniques and much more.
It was only when I started to work as an interior design intern that I realized my fascination with architecture mostly comes from observing and learning about the social and behavioral patterns that define people's relationships with the built environments around them.
Transition
My approach to architecture was very grounded in user research and focused on human experience. As I tried to make sense of the future of my career as an architect, I couldn't neglect one harsh truth about architecture and it was the inability of a static design to meet the goals and needs of a changing user.
This is what led me into the exciting field of user experience design where I'd be able to do more of what I love about architecture; designing experience for people. As someone with a background in designing physical spaces, I can bring a more rigorous and innovative approach to UX Design.
